I chose Where the Crawdads Sing as our “book of the week” last October. I have since verbally recommended this book over and over and over again but just realized that I never WROTE about how much I loved it after reading it. This book is one of my favorite books EVER! After learning about it, both my Aunt and my mother-in-law chose it for their book clubs. My mom also read it and LOVED it. Both Mama and Rosie told me about seeing the author on CBS Sunday Morning. Delia Owens is 70 years old and this is her FIRST NOVEL. She reportedly worked on it for 10+ years. Reese Witherspoon bought the movie rights. Trust me, download or buy this book and take it with you on Spring Break. You’ll thank me later. You are welcome.
Meanwhile, please comment on this post and give ME more suggestions of what to read. I just finished a book I did NOT like and am hoping to make a better choice for my Spring Break reading and would love to know your suggestions.
I’ve added quick links below to all of the suggestions from everyone. Thanks so much to all who suggested books already. Wanna know which ones I chose to download first? Of course you do!

I’m constantly recommending Driving Miss Norma: One Family’s Journey Saying “Yes” to Living by Ramie Liddle and Tim Bauer Schmidt to all my friends, family and coworkers! Amazing book and so inspiring!
The Huntress (amazing), Nicki and The Six (fun), Educated (I’m sure you’ve already read it), Cutting For Stone (One of my favorites of all time), Eleanor Oliphant is Fine, The Nightingale, Where’d You Go Bernadette?, Never Stop Walking (memoir. Not the best writing but an incredible, unforgettable story), The Woman In The Window, Little Fires Everywhere
Circling the Sun by Paula Mclain
NEWS OF THE WORLD…….an excellent book! Everyone in my bookclub love it!
I really enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish. It was a great, easy read.
LOVED Where the Crawdads Sing! Previously enjoyed An Anonymous Girl and The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. Excellent!! Have you read those?
Two books I just finished and liked:
The Gown by Jennifer Robson (historical fiction)
Sounds Like Titanic by Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman
Sounds Like Titanic (memoir) by Jessica Chiccehitto Hindman
Our book club loved “A Gentleman in Moscow “
The Great Alone, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Sun is Also a Star, Holding Up the Universe
Suggestions from people who have emailed or texted me directly:
When Live Gives You Lulu Lemons (L. Hogan reccommended)
Sold on a Monday by Kristina McMorris (D. Saltman recommended)
Nancy Milford’s “ Zelda” is superb. Zelda’s tumultuous life with F. Scott Fitzgerald makes for better reading than some of their writings. (recommended by M.Evans)
Beneath a Scarlet Sky – if you enjoyed Nightingale (recommended by A. Phillips)
Thanks to my friend J. Harrison for recommending this resource: https://modernmrsdarcy.com/category/books-reading/book-lists/

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats. Love, love, love this book. My absolute favorite. Beautiful story of life and true love. If you get it and don’t LOVE it I will pay you back for it! Seriously! 🙂
Leslie- I read this several years ago and could not agree more. Excellent book!
Started reading “Crawdads” last week. Have you read The Woman in Cabin 10?
