It was a super-hero weekend for my family. I love super heroes. In fact, I’m a HUGE Wonder Woman fan and even have a WW Halloween costume and WW luggage tags! And, my boys’ first sleeping bags were Spider-Man themed.
So here’s my quick take on these two latest comic book movie stars on the big screen:
Wonder Woman was good. Hubby and the 15 year old liked it too. Heck, she’s gorgeous and lives on a island full of beautiful women, what’s not to love. Seriously, the movie stuck to what I remember as the story from the original television show. When the mother of WW whipped out the golden lasso of truth I gasped out loud at the memory of this magic device and remembered how I seriously coveted one for my own when I was a little wonder girl! I won’t ruin the plot of the movie but will say we definitely liked it. Fans of Chris Pine will like it too.
Spider-Man is not good. It is simply AMAZING. The three of us loved every single second of it… even up ’til the very end after the last credit when you get a funny quip from Captain America. It doesn’t hurt that I live in a house with two teenage boys and this Spidey is a 15 year old. I can totally relate. There’s action, romance, humor, a big twisted surprise, redemption and several scenes with Robert Downy Jr (whom I adore). Marisa Tomei as Aunt May is superb. If you like super hero flicks go see it. We happened to see the IMAX 3D version at North Point Mall which was expensive but made it “super” cool. Plus, it was filmed partially in Atlanta.
I love movies that are enjoyed equally by all members of my family plus my parents. Super hero movies seem to always fit the multi generational bill so they make me particularly happy. Here’s a list I found of upcoming Super Hero movie release dates. Thor in November…happy birthday to me. He’s my fave 😉
