I quickly scanned several Homecoming photos from this weekend and determined that the “blue blazer” is the HOCO uniform for 90% of our local boys. So it is no wonder that the post HOCO accidental blazer swap is a real thing. On Sunday morning Moms all over social media and group texting are trying to figure out who has their kiddo’s blue blazer and who the heck owns the one that their son brought home! The boys take them off at the dance because they are hot, uncomfortable, or want to get their groove on. Boys will be boys and they discard them haphazardly on a chair or the floor (we are talking teenage boys here). Eventually they meander to the after party and change into casual clothes. Who knows where that pricey blue blazer is now?
I happen to know that there is at least one blue blazer in the DHS lost and found. I also know of three moms who need to swap blazers and I’ve connected all three of them and none of them are the right match. So…the purpose of this post is to help those that are part of the accidental blazer swap club. Comment on this post and maybe we can connect you with your rightful clothing. For the record….my son actually came home with his very own 🙂
I started thinking about why in the world the “blue blazer” is so iconic and found these interesting articles

My son is missing his blue Blazer!!! Would love for someone to have it- Unfortunately , I don’t have one to swap! It is Navy Blue – has a Macy’s tag on the right side and think it is a 36!!
We are still looking for Charlie Tutt’s “Bar III” brand blue blazer. He lost it at the HOCO dance in the gym. It is a 36-38 slim cotton blazer with blue buttons. Thank you!
Hi. Also….FYI. There are two blazers at the DHS main office now….none in lost and found. The one we had after the dance (a 40-42L from Dillard’s) and another one (Murano brand). The Mutano brand was the one formerly the lost and found. The office wanted to keep them for safe keeping as opposed to leaving them in the hallway.
I received the following text from a sophomore mom friend regarding the “Accidental Blazer Swap”. Names are changed to protect the kiddos: ” Mystery solved — I has C’s blazer, C has D’s and D has I’s.”
Have any Mom’s of younger boys ever thought of having a blue blazer consignment? The guys seem to wear them from about 4th grade on.
