Italy~The Country That Doesn’t Disappoint!

Taking a trip to Europe is a big decision. There are many things to consider when picking your destination. For example: Which country will you visit, how much time do you need, is it possible to visit multiple places or countries, how will you get from A to B, should you book a roundtrip ticket or a multi-city ticket, how many nights should you spend in each place, what are the must sees in the area…it can make your head spin!
Picking your destination is the first step. I love visiting throughout Europe, but there are numerous reasons why Italy always seems to be at the top of everyone’s list. It is certainly one of my favorites. Italy brings joy in so many ways…the delicious food and wine, the beautiful architecture, the breathtaking scenery and views, the diverse terrain, the rich history and the friendly people.
In upcoming AHA Travel Talks, we will explore several different regions within Italy. In the meantime, here are 5 reasons why you should take that long awaited trip to Italy!
1) FOOD AND WINE: It’s hard to find a bad meal in Italy! There is so much diversity in the types of food you may eat, as every region offers it’s own specialties. It’s not just all pizza and pasta. Italians love to eat and love to feed you! And of course every meal is not complete without some great Italian wine. The house wine is typically wonderful and cheaper than buying a soda!
2) EASY TRANSPORTATION: Italy has a great train system that can take you throughout the country. Train travel is a fun and enjoyable way to travel between your destinations. It’s relatively inexpensive, offers beautiful scenery, relaxing and takes the headache out of figuring out where you are going. There are certain areas that require a car, but you can easily plan a trip throughout Italy just using the train.
3) HIGH QUALITY EXPLORING: You have struck gold when it comes to exploring in Italy. Whether you are touring the Colosseum in Rome, taking a romantic gondola ride in Venice, visiting a vineyard in the countryside, day tripping it to Capri or strolling through a market…it’s endless! You don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy the historical gems…the ruins in Rome, The Vatican, Pompeii and Michelangelo’s David to name a few. You will never be bored!!
4) CITIES, COUNTRYSIDE AND COAST ALL IN ONE: Italy offers you the ability to see a city, the countryside, the alps and the coast all in one trip! What a perfect solution to satisfy differing preferences. Each region will offer different sights, food, wine, views and culture.
5) ROMANCE: If you are looking for romance, you have hit the jackpot! If you weren’t the romantic type before embarking on your Italian vacation, you will certainly get a crash course while there! Whether you are on your balcony in Venice listening to the gondoliers gliding through beautiful canals singing in Italian, lounging poolside at your Tuscan farmhouse with 360 degree views of rolling hills around you, or waking up in your cliffside bedroom overlooking the Amalfi Coast, Italy is sure to please.
