MLK Day of Service Packing Event
The Packaged Good in Dunwoody is hosting a free, public event for the community to pack 2000 care packages for homeless and underprivileged families in metro Atlanta. The Packaged Good has partnered with the Community Assistance Center and Homeless at Heart, a non-profit focused on helping the homeless, as recipients of the care packages The event will be held January 16, 2017 from 10am-4pm at 5517 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd behind the Fresh Market. The event is free to the public and will include the care package contents, free food from Tiff’s Treats and GoGo Squeeze, DJ and a free hot chocolate bar. No RSVP required but you may go to The Packaged Good Facebook page and click on the event as “Going.”
City of Dunwoody’s MLK Day of Service
The City of Dunwoody will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 16th from 9:00 a.m. until noon. This is a FREE volunteer event for all ages to lend their time to give back to the community. There will be opportunities to work indoors or outdoors at a variety of locations throughout the community including CAC. Sign up online to select a volunteer location. The morning will start off at the Brook Run Pavilion where volunteers will receive full details on their volunteer opportunity, followed by a ‘MLK Day of Service Community Walk’ around the Brook Run trail loop to get the day started. Then all volunteers will head to appointed locations with a goal of concluding activities at 12:00 p.m.
The community may also help neighbors in need by making donations of a new or gently used coats or canned goods for CAC at one of these Dunwoody locations on Monday, January 16.
