- Information shared from educators at AIS & Galloway Schools
I am writing to let you know one of our grade 8 male students was approached by a man (age estimated to be 50) at Chastain Park several days in a row and attended his meet [cross-country] Monday (uninvited). He eventually followed him home. The detailed information the family has shared with us indicates grooming behaviors. We have contacted the police and the schools near Chastain.
- POST FROM ALLISON P.
My daughter was walking home from Marist on Friday around 10:30 p.m. When she got to Nancy Creek, a van pulled to the side of the road, turned on the hazard lights and got out of the van. He followed her until my husband pulled up beside her. I have reported this information to the police.
Description of person involved – Hair: Grey, balding, Top: Black shirt, Bottom: tan pants, Shoes: unknown, Age: 50-60, Build: Average, Race: White, Sex: Male, Other details: Grey mustache. He was balding with grey hair. Average build. He was between the age of 50-60.
Description of vehicle involved – Color: White, Make: Van, Model: unknown, Type: Van, Other details: Van did have windows, but was not a minivan.
This past Sunday (two days ago) I saw the same description of a van and man around the neighborhood when I was leaving my house for Sprouts and when I got back about 20mins later I cross path with a police car around my Cul de sac, I’m sure someone reported suspicious activity.
Me coming from Latin America I’m always aware of my surroundings since that’s how I was raised. The point is this man wasn’t only on the Marist area. Me and my kids saw him, I hate to put fear on my kids mind but I did point out to him that he should be careful and those cars have nothing to do around our neighborhoods, specially on Sundays. (A white van with just one man inside and no advertising of services on the sides).
I’m mad that I didn’t got a photo of the car plate.
curious, was it a really old school looking van with the bubble windows?
It wasn’t old.
Allison, did your husband say that the man ran or hurried back to his van when he (your husband) pulled up? Did your husband attempt to find out why he was out of his van on foot following your daughter? Curious as to his behavior in such a seemingly precarious situation.
