More Office AC Units Stolen in Dunwoody-NEW INFO

CAN YOU PLEASE SEND OUT THIS ALERT TO DUNWOODY BUSINESS OWNERS?

At least 3-4 more air conditioning units were stolen this week from the Dunwoody Place office condominiums at Peeler Road and North Shallowford Road. But had we known the following, these thieves might have been caught.

All the owners here in our complex that were victims reported that their AC units were not working properly, and all had decided to make calls for service, thinking it was simply a coolant or other service problem with their units.

In fact, one owner checked on their unit about 5:30 pm, and the compressor was working, the fan was working, , etc., so the assumption was that there was simply a need for a service call for coolant. However, between that time and the next morning, the entire unit was stolen, along with at least 3 others in the same area between two buildings.

Sounds like these thieves do something to the units first to either let the pressure or coolant out of the coolant lines first, and then return to steal the units, not just the copper.

Business owners need to beware if their AC “goes on the fritz” and is working, but not cooling. They might want to call the Dunwoody Police Department and let them know, BEFORE they call anyone to service their AC. Then, the police might have a chance of surveillance of their property that night – before their unit is stolen, too. Sure would be nice to catch these guys!

Forearmed is Forewarned! I haven’t seen this “pre-theft” information reported in any of the local papers. They only report that the units were stolen.

  1. One more note – the last “rash” of thefts took place over the July 4th long weekend apparently, so they might also wait until Friday night after business hours, and come back and steal units early in the morning on Sunday, and no one would even notice the AC wasn’t working until Monday morning. If you live in the area, might not be a bad idea to “drop by” the office on Saturday and check to see if your AC is working.
