Almost two years ago I posted a question to our audience: Should I read Outlander? Everyone said yes, so I did. I thought it was a little long but I loved it. I’ve always been scared to pick it up because there are more than 8 books in the series and I have an addictive personality when it comes to books. My Mom read the series years ago and has been bugging me to read them but I kept telling her that I just couldn’t do it to my family. I have been known to get hooked on a book and avoid them for days and to stop showering, cooking and cleaning and driving them places. An 8 book series whereby each novel is at least 600 pages…I could disappear for months!
So, I decided I would plan to watch books 2-8 as television episodes on Starz rather than reading them all. One hour per week during the season is an easy way to pace myself. So, I watched season 1 in order to see book 1 come to life. It was phenomenal….historical fiction, love story, beautiful cinematography and costume design.
Season 2 based on Dragonfly in Amber/Book 2, was just as fabulous and ended on a cliff hanger. Oh no. I looked up the air date of Season 3 and learned “early 2017“. I was dying. I just HAD TO KNOW what happened next. I downloaded book 3 (Voyager) which just happens to be 870 pages long. Ouch. I’ve been preoccupied for a week unable to focus on anything but finding time to read this book. I may like it the best so far. I finished it. However, I couldn’t stop myself from downloading book 4 (Drums of Autumn). I’m going to stop though. I have to. I need a shower….and my kids are hungry.
