Dunwoody High School Spanish Club reps, Natalie Clark and Matt Pastrone (UGA) are teaming up with local 501(c)(3) Mike’s Angels for another trip to Guatemala on July 15th to continue their work with the children in need. Last year their efforts created the DHS Library for low income students of Opal House, high above Lake Atitlan…where the parent’s education ends at 3rd grade. In addition to stocking the library, this year they are focusing on repairing the kitchen at the Girls Orphanage…leaky roof, rats and a dangerous wood burning stove that fills the kitchen with toxic smoke. If your kids went to Kinglsey Elementary they may have had a chance to interact with the DHS Spanish Club “after school” volunteers and DHS Spanish teachers….Ms. Bilbao and Ms. Rojo! They love your kids! How can you help? Drop off an easy reader English book or any Spanish book to the box at 5138 Stratham Drive by July 11th OR Donate to the GOFUNDME link to repair the kitchen…send a check to Mike’s Angels or donate an item from the wish list! Gracias! For your students taking Spanish at Peachtree Middle…getting involved with Mike’s Angels is a great way to practice the language, experience the culture and serve the children and they offer an annual scholarship to students!!
