Due to a massive region realignment by the Georgia High School Athletic Association (GHSA), Dunwoody High School’s football schedule contains games against predominately non-DeKalb County schools. Traditional rival games between Chamblee High School and Lakeside HS remain on the schedule.
With the exception of Pope High School, which is in Cobb County, the non-DeKalb school games are against Fulton County schools.
The majority of the schools that Dunwoody will face this season have their own stadiums within their school campus. These are nice stadiums. I know as I have attended games at Centennial High School and Johns Creek HS. These schools and their fans will be visiting the dump that is North DeKalb Stadium. Yes, it will be embarrassing. Yes, I’m being snarky…but truthful.
As an aside….If the Independent School District legislation passes and Dunwoody ends up with its own school district, where would Dunwoody HS and Peachtree MS athletics host their competitions? There is no land at the high school or middle school for a stadium and all the available land in Dunwoody is being snatched up for hotels, condos and apartments….just a thought.
