Sandy Springs, Ga, (May 10, 2016) – Heritage Sandy Springs announced a new educational program for adults, to be held on Tuesday evenings in June from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Titles @ Twilight promotes local authors, whose stories of history and the South represent a variety of perspectives from Sherman’s March to the Sea to the history of baseball. Titles @ Twilight is free to attend and will take place in the Garden Room at the Williams-Payne House, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle, Sandy Springs, GA.
“Last month, Milam Propst debuted her new book Sidetracked, with co-author Jaclyn White. Sidetracked is more than a tale of Sherman’s March to the Sea, it’s a modern interpretation of local historic sites and the colorful characters that Propst and White met on their road trip to Savannah,” said Melissa Swindell, Director of Historic Resources and Education Programs at Heritage Sandy Springs. “With a mention of the Williams-Payne House, Sandy Springs’ historic farm house, we were immediately intrigued. Titles @ Twilight came out of our meeting with Propst, who will open our month-long program. Following her lead, local authors will discuss their books and their journeys through writing about Atlanta.”
June 7: “It’s the Journey, Not the Destination” – Jaclyn White and Milam Propst
Jaclyn White spent over 20 years working in the legal field. She is the author of nine books and is a two-time winner of the Georgia Author of the Year Award. She is also a jewelry designer and lives in Hoschton, Georgia. Milam Propst has worked on newspapers and in PR. She’s also the author of nine books, but unlike Jackie, Milam won Georgia Author of the Year only once! A Sandy Springs neighbor, Milam enjoys her grandsons, public speaking, and, at present, promoting “Sidetracked.”
June 14: “How to Write from Your Five Senses: Make Your Words Come Alive” – Franklin Cox
Franklin Cox shelved his long career as a stockbroker and began a new career as an author. He adapted an award-winning screenplay from his memoir “Lullabies for Lieutenants” about a young Marine officer trapped in the horrific Vietnam War. He loves telling stories and creating his two current works now in progress.
June 21: “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Writing” – Jackie Cooper and Dale Cramer
Jackie Cooper is the author of seven memoirs and also reviews movies and books for “The Huffington Post”. He sees over 150 movies a year and reads at least 50 books. In his spare time he watches TV. Dale Cramer is the author of eight novels and winner of several awards. His books have been included on Best of the Year lists at Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and Booklist. Dale lives in McDonough with his wife Pam.
June 28: “Baseball and Life as Experienced through Yogi Berra’s Most Famous Quote: ‘It ain’t over ’till it’s over’” – Ed Putnam
The author of “The Final Season,” Ed Putnam lives in Marietta, GA. He was born and raised in Sandy Springs. A graduate of Georgia Tech, he served two years of active duty in the US Navy. Ed is married with two children and three grandchildren.
