A Book review from Brookhaven Christina
This book literally beckons every busy mom. With a faith-based approach to “finding peace and purpose in a world full of crazy,” Worthington, an entrepreneur and mother of five boys, offers great suggestions for slowing down. We don’t need busy, crazy, distracted lives; we need full and fulfilled lives in which we function with purpose and spend our time doing things of value.
“Staying busy with shallow acquaintances only leaves us feeling empty,” she writes. Many of her comments are wake up calls, such as her
thoughts about social media and other outlets that merely suck valuable time away from you. Social media relationships are not real friendships, and no number of “likes” will ever fulfill you.
Sometimes it’s hard to say no to things, especially if they are the things you think you should be doing. “Sometimes our lives are full of busyness because traditions make us believe that is how it has to be done,” she writes. She also offers suggestions for ways to evaluate your true use of your time, your decision-making skills and your communication skills, and each chapter includes “action steps.” Additional resources are available on her web site as well.
