Community invited to public input meeting on Peachtree Creek Greenway

Consultants for the future Peachtree Creek Greenway at Brookhaven, slated to become District 4’s first park, will present initial ideas and gather public input at an open house on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Briarwood Park Community Center, 2235 Briarwood Way.

The consultants, Heath & Lineback Engineers, were selected to develop a Master Plan for the Peachtree Creek Greenway (formerly North Fork Peachtree Creek Greenway). The objective is to develop a framework for constructing an integrated system of multi-use and natural trails along the North Fork of Peachtree Creek.

The North Fork begins just outside I-285 and generally follows I-85 until it joins the South Fork of Peachtree Creek near the Lindbergh MARTA station. The goal of the greenway is to provide residents with close-to-home and close-to-work access to bicycle and pedestrian trails, serve transportation and recreation needs, and help encourage quality of life and sustainable economic growth.

“The Peachtree Creek Greenway at Brookhaven will spark economic development along the entire corridor,” District 4 Councilman Joe Gebbia said. “Once connected to neighboring trails and bike paths, this statement park should produce similar results as currently experienced by other BeltLine routes.”

The community is invited and encouraged to participate at the open house to help shape the future of the greenway.
