The commuters’ headaches caused by nearly two years of work on Northridge Road at Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs were expected to end this week, but due to rain in the past week, the project has been delayed.
The Georgia Department of Transportation was supposed to finish its improvement project on the interchange Wednesday, but rain forced its completion to be pushed back several days, Annalysce Baker-Wilson, a GDOT spokeswoman, said Thursday.
“Due to rainy weather last weekend and this week we are still working on [the project]. We will continue work this weekend, weather permitting,” she said. “I cannot give a [finishing] date because the project completion depends on the weather. Once the weather clears it should be done. We are going to try to work this week if the weather allows.”
Last week, before the rain came, Baker-Wilson was optimistic the project would be finished on time.
“We are on schedule to be done with the Northridge project this month, weather permitting of course,” she said last week, adding the $9.3 million project is on budget.
