FCA at Dunwoody High School

Welcome back to school and to Fellowship of Christian Athletes! I hope you will find
the following information helpful in preparing your student for our new and exciting
beginning. Our first FCA meeting for this school year is Friday, September 11 !
FCA meets most Fridays beginning after Labor Day except holidays and exam
weeks. The fellowship begins around 7:20 a.m. in the DHS Auditorium Lobby with
breakfast of Chick-fil-A biscuits and drinks, and the program follows from
7:37-8:00. As always, the breakfast is FREE to all students who attend thanks to
the generous donations from local churches, FCA families, and community
supporters. Several biscuit orders during the year are generously donated by the
PERIMETER POINTE Chick-fil-A (so please thank them for us when you visit there).
The remaining breakfasts are kindly provided by parents…please see the sign up
genius link at the bottom of the page, get a group of 5 together and volunteer for a
Friday morning that fits your schedule! (We suggest 5 to keep the costs to about
$50 for each person after the $200+ reimbursement. More explanation is provided
on the sign up page.)
Mr. Steve Fortenberry, our fearless and faithful leader, has lined up a fantastic
group of speakers for this year! Games, trivia, and announcements precede their
inspirational messages each week. Parents are welcomed to stay and enjoy the
morning as well. Six years ago when my oldest son was a freshman, 60 students
met in Mr. Fortenberry’s classroom. By the time he was a senior, the group
approaching 225 had to begin meeting in the auditorium and the following
continues to increase! We have been so BLESSED by the leadership and support at
DHS and God is shining in our students and around our school! Mr. “Fort” has a
heart for these students and their relationships with God. His tireless energy
reinforces God’s love for them…a “lesson” they can always carry with them.
