Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 25, 2015 –
Following City Council approval of its mid-year budget adjustment on Aug. 25, Brookhaven will add more than $600,000 to its reserve.
According to City Manager Marie Garrett, a budget adjustment became necessary when the city council adopted a lower millage rate earlier this year.
“We wanted to be sure we had sufficient funds to carry out all services agreed on in the budget, and we were able to do that,” she said.
The city is receiving higher-than-expected revenues in parts of the 2015 budget, including the tax digest, and currently has about $4 million in reserve.
