Recently, while participating in a study on the book Breathe, by Priscilla Shirer, our class got a little side tracked discussing fun games that we like to play with our families. There was discussion of cards, puzzles & board games. During this discussion I learned about Mexican Train Dominoes and immediately ordered this for my family and am hoping for some free time soon to sit down and play!
Yesterday my teenagers indulged me in THREE games in a row of Skip-Bo. Skip-Bo is the modern commercialized version of a card game my brother and I used to play for hours which we called MASS but research tells me it was really named “Spite & Malice“. Whatever it is called, I LOVE THIS GAME!
With ice and snow on the horizon maybe in addition to grabbing milk and bread, we should get some games to play while stuck inside! Please comment on this post to share your families’ favorite games with The Aha! Connection! Be sure to tell us the approximate age-appropriateness of the game(s) you recommend!
Adults and teens both will ove Quelf. Honestly you will laugh until you cry as the players “Obey the Card” and let their imaginations take over.

Mexican Train is great because all ages and numbers can plan (2-8players). My 7 year old granddaughter like to play Hangman (winter /Christmas and food categories) on the I-pad. It teaches spelling and she loves it. We also love Yatzee for ages 3-99!
One we like lately is called pandemic. It makes the kids think and plan ahead and also work as a team!
We love Logo the board game. It says 12 and up so do keep that in mind. The young ones out shown the older adults over Christmas!
Tensi has become our favorite. Great for young and old. It’s a dice game that’s fun to play, so get additional box with 77 ways to play on Amazon.
