BOOK OF THE WEEK:
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr |
This is an award winning, NY Times best selling, beautifully written story set during the midst of WWII. The stories of the lives of Marie-Laure, a blind french girl and Werner, an orphaned German boy are told separately until they intertwine in a very complex and life-changing way. Historical fiction is admittedly one of my favorite genres. Doerr does an excellent job of transporting you to the WWII period depicting the fear, sadness, confusion, hunger, desperation and pure evil that was experienced during this terrible time in history. Fortunately he also gives you glimpses of hope, faith, and love that very often saved lives and souls. I definitely recommend this book. |
