Below is an edited version (to shorten) as forwarded to me from an Aha! Subscriber:
At 12:30 pm I was mugged in front of Container Store on Perimeter Center West. I was sitting on a bench right outside the door talking on the phone when 3 teenage, African-American males grabbed me and took my phone. Somehow they did not get my purse (I must have had a death grip on it!). I came away unhurt except for a scratch on my face from when the guy grabbed the phone from me.
Within minutes police were on the scene and both Container Store and Bassett Furniture had pulled their security footage. About 5 squad cars and 1 canine unit later, they caught the perpetrators and had me ID them, make a statement, etc. Then even better news, the police found my phone (minus the case and SIM card) in some bushes where the “thugs” had thrown it away before being caught.
So two things to take away from this:
-ALWAYS listen to your instincts and be aware of your surroundings when out in public
-Our police department is amazing. I was blown away by how quickly and with how much manpower they responded to my situation.
Please be careful out there!
