10-01-14 Dunwoody Police seeking Caregiver Victims
The Dunwoody Police Department recently arrested Terry Demetrice Sawyer (11/30/1970 of Decatur, GA) for Financial Transaction Card Fraud(F), Forgery – 3rd Degree(F), and Elder Exploitation(F). Sawyer was a caregiver for the 92 year old victim prior to his death. She acted as an independent contractor and was not affiliated with any home care agency. During the course of her employment, Sawyer wrote numerous checks to herself from the victim’s checkbook and continued to use the victim’s credit cards after his death. The suspect’s actions led to severe financial loss. The Dunwoody Police Department reminds citizens to use due diligence when selecting a caregiver.
