The 35th annual Great Miller Lite Chili and BBQ Cook-Off will return to the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Ga. on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Entering its second year at the Horse Park the annual event, which introduced an amateur barbecue competition last year, is now sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) and offering over $10,000 in prize money. Amateur and professional pit masters alike will now have the opportunity to compete for the best barbecue chicken and ribs at the annual event that attracts approximately 15,000 attendees every year looking for a day filled with mouthwatering chili, barbecue, live music, and games and activities for all ages. The Great Miller Lite Chili and BBQ Cook-Off will donate 100% of the proceeds from the 35th annual event to Camp Twin Lakes and has raised over $450,000 over the past seven years for this network of children’s camps that provide life-changing experiences to thousands of Georgia children with serious illnesses, disabilities and challenges. The 35th annual Great Miller Lite Chili and BBQ Cook-Off is presented by KICKS Country 101.5 and ROCK 100.5.
In addition to the exciting additions to the tastier side of things, The Great Miller Lite Chili and BBQ Cook-Off will also be increasing the live music element. Traditionally known for presenting the best in cover bands from across the country, this year welcomes the addition of Sugarland founding member, Kristian Bush and Steele Magnolia’s Joshua Scott Jones. Filling out the bill will be A1A, “the official and original Jimmy Buffet Tribute Show” and Convoy, playing outlaw country favorites.
Open year round, the Georgia International Horse Park is host to a remarkable variety of special events, including horse shows, mountain bike races, festivals, concerts, rodeos, outdoor sporting events and the annual Great Miller Lite Chili and Barbecue Cook-Off. Located just east of Atlanta, the spacious event fields will allow for the addition of several exciting elements that will enhance the festival experience including onsite permanent restroom facilities, convenient parking, and easier access to the event. The Horse Park will welcome more than 200 teams from across the country that will battle it out for bragging rights for the best chili, Brunswick stew, cornbread and now barbecue. As always, attendees are invited to sample all that the competitors have to offer, take advantage of a variety of activities like the mullet flop and jalapeno eating contest.
