Memphis Barbecue Co. is now Open! Please tell me what you think!

mbbqlogoOn December 17th I posted an announcement that Memphis BBQ was coming!  Well, 7+ months later they have finally opened!   One of my kiddos had oral surgery last week and eating BBQ isn’t allowed yet.   Needless to say it is killing him!  So, in solidarity with my son I’m holding out until his mouth has healed!

But that doesn’t mean you can’t go!!!   Please go and post a comment to let us know what you think!

  1. Food is Good. Nice variety on the menu. For my taste leave out the pepper in the
    corn bread.
Also some of the tables are really tight to get into . Be careful.
Glad to see the place open and Good Luck.
PS. They have no locations in Memphis Tenn.

  2. Last weekend we ordered in pulled pork and beef brisket as we had a large crowd. Pulled pork with BBQ sauce was excellent! I esp enjoyed the balance of the sweet/spicy BBQ sauce; it was not too spicy. Beef brisket was melt in your mouth perfection; although my hubby somehow picked a little bit of the dry end. You could see that brisket was perfectly cooked as it had the “pink ring” typical of slow and low BBQ. Slaw & potato salad were pretty good. Buns were not good at all. I would highly recommend! I was thrilled for another dining choice in Dunwoody. It will definitely be on our take out rotation.

  3. My wife and I had lunch at Memphis BBQ after church on Sunday. We are both originally from Texas and are always searching from good BBQ beef brisket. We both thought Memphis BBQ brisket was the best we have found in Atlanta in over 30 years living here. The sides were also quite good. We recommend giving it a try!

  4. We ordered take-out on Monday and everything was delicious! Smoked sausage, spare ribs, chicken and pulled pork….but the brisket was phenomenal!! Will definitely be back!

  5. As a native Memphian who now lives in Dunwoody, I can say that it is good stuff! Traditional Memphis BBQ! If you go to Memphis, there are certainly better places to eat but hands down it is better than anything here in the Atlanta Metro. It’s nice to have a little bit of home right around the corner! Hope you enjoy!

  6. To Arthur: no, they do not have any locations “in” Memphis, but they are located just outside Memphis in Horn Lake, MS. North MS has practically become a suburb of Memphis.

  7. Delicious!!! We went Sunday night and they had run out of ribs and chicken; therefore, a manager came over to help us order. My husband had the brisket and I had the Memphis burger. Both were great! He said it was the best brisket he has ever had – this from a person who doesn’t eat pork – so he’s had a lot of brisket. They are from Horn Lake, MS, a suburb of Memphis. I’ve eaten at many Memphis BBQ restaurants, and this as good as any of them! She has won the Memphis in May championship several times. Let’s support this great new Dunwoody restaurant:-)

  8. Just had lunch there today. Huge servings, fast, helpful service. When we left there was a long line waiting. Guys will LOVE this place.

  9. Two words: MUST GO!! The cheese fritters were to die for. The pulled pork was delicious, as well as the ribs. A great addition to Dunwoody!

  10. Went to Memphis Barbecue for dinner tonight. Both my husband and I had the beef brisket, fries and cole slaw. It was very good. Also a piece of corn bread. The regular BBQ sauce was good. Waitstaff was very attentive. Much better than Hickory House by far, and due to the convenience of the location, we will definitely go back. The places that we like better, such as Community Q in Decatur, Fox Bros in Edgewood area, Heirloom, and Grand Champion in Marietta are too far to go with school back in session creating traffic problems. This is a nice place to go in Dunwoody, and we will be going back again soon!

  11. The Pulled Pork Baker was very tasty with excellent quality meat. I will be back, and I think it is AWESOME that they chose Dunwoody for their 2nd location!

  12. Over priced and under delivers. Typical chain food, except for ribs. Buns for sandwiches and beans must be from Publix, No alcohol license and multiple TVs but only 1 station on all monitors – heard Manager blame it on previous owner and cable company. Not as good as Smokey Bones. Fox Bros., Burnt Fork and many others have superior food and service. Server mumbled and got my wife’s order completely wrong (she didn’t complain). Not ready for prime time. Asked if they’d be at the Atlanta BBQ fest at Atlantic Station on Friday and they didn’t know what I was talking about.

  13. We went Friday night on a whim. The BBQ nachos appetizer was plentiful and a great twist on nachos. The pork BBQ dinner was generous and lean, with great flavor and we loved the sweet sauce and the unusual cornbread. Mixed veggies were not typical and had a nice kick to them. The 11-yr-old, ordered the salmon and we all stared at him. But, it was some of the best salmon I’ve ever tasted in a restaurant. It has an orange/chipotle glaze with a thickened, sweet soy sauce on the side. I would say it is an upper moderately priced BBQ place, rather than a frugal joint. Hope this helps you, and hope your boy’s the gums heal quickly!
    Cheers,
    Beth

  14. Hey, tried Memphis bbq Tues. for lunch. Good quality food, with a little different twist, served with cornbread . Also tried their grits, that were also very different but delicious. Vegan types may have a hard time there. But I liked it. just and FYI Sherri Easter
