Hi my name is Sam. I am a rising sophomore at Dunwoody High School. I am working on earning my Girl Scout Gold Award this summer. For my project I am building a library for the residents at the Covenant House in downtown Atlanta. The Covenant House is a shelter for runaway, troubled, homeless youths ages 18-21. These young adults read at a second to eighth grade reading level. My project involves building a functional library and setting up a literacy program for the residents so that they an have more opportunities available to them upon leaving the Covenant House. I am in the process of collecting middle school level books along with life skill books such as cooking and gardening. I am especially in need of adult literacy books. I have set up a collection bin inside the front entrance of All Saint’s Catholic Church which will be there until July 27 and would appreciate any donations.
