One of my neighborhood girlfriends (Heather Larson) and I were recently invited to Wendy Wax’s newest book launch party at Ragamuffin Music Hall on Historic Roswell Square. The House on Mermaid Point is the third in the series following Ten Beach Road and Ocean Beach.
I’ve read Ten Beach Road and am in the midst of Ocean Beach and love the characters! I’m so excited that I now will have the opportunity to spend more time with them in a third book! Maddie, Avery and Nikki’s first adventure took place at St. Pete Beach, they moved on to Miami’s South Beach for book 2 and now are headed to the Florida Keys to turn the private island of rock legend “William the Wild” into a bed-and-breakfast. The series is full of fun characters and is wonderful summer reading material…perfect for reading on the beach!!!
I met Wendy last summer when she graciously agreed to attend my “Best Book Club Ever!” I’m now a big fan and am very excited for her continued success. One fun twist with this newest book is that she co-wrote a song ‘Mermaid in You‘ with the band 10th Concession. The song is apparently referenced in the book as one of “William the Wild’s” biggest hits. Check out this great article in USA Today explaining how Wendy can’t carry a tune but wrote a song anyway! At the release party we were treated to a serenade by one of the members of 10th Concession performing this certain to be a hit song!
