Note from Audra: “All of the following DHS Feeder Schools have a Pre-K program:
- Austin
- Chesnut
- Dunwoody Elementary
- Kingsley
- Vanderlyn
I personally think the DES Pre-K Teacher is one of the best teachers in the world but I’m sure the others are great too!”

Schools continue to accept applications for the waiting pool after the lottery utilization, if and when space becomes available in the class.
The Pre-K program utilizes the Opening the World of Learning (OWL) curriculum to teach the Bright from the Start Instructional Content Standards for all pre-k students. The classes also utilize the Work Sampling Online Assessment system required by the Department of Early Care and Learning to monitor student progress throughout the year. More information can be found about the Department of Early Care and Learning at their website.
