Co-sponsored by Arts, Education, and Ideas at Oglethorpe University and the Department of Music – W. Irwin Ray, DMA, Director, Oglethorpe University presents Atlanta Concert Band, under the baton of Paul F. Scanling, Music Director, in a special concert featuring all Russian composers, “From Russia With Love.” The program features the Atlanta Concert Band in music by Shostakovick, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, Boridin, Prokofiev, and Gliere. Featured soloists: Dane Philipsen, oboe, performing Variations on a Theme of Glinka by Rimsky-Korsakov and Thomas Gibson, trombone, performing Concerto for Trombone and Military Band by Rimsky-Korsakov.
