The Nature Center presents a special workshop for Girl Scouts to learn about the sun’s unseen – but dangerous – ultraviolet (UV) rays and what they can do to lessen their risk of developing skin cancer. Through completing activities in the program, scouts will discover, connect and take action to help themselves and others be sun safe. Activities will be designated by Girl Scout level and will include using solar beads, solar powered nail polish, and solar s’mores. The Sun Safety patch is available for all participants at the end of the program. Each Girl Scout must complete activities from the 3 different activity categories – Sun Savvy, Sun Protection, and Sun-Sational.
Activites will include:
Sun Patch Relay Race
Baking Bonanza
UV You Can See
All Scouts will end the day by taking their own Sun Safety Promise!
