Sandy Springs, Ga., invited five development teams to compete to become master developer for a planned remake of the city’s downtown.
The city issued a request for proposals Wednesday to the five teams approved last week at the end of a preliminary screening process that began last year.
The five competitors include Batson-Cook/Pope & Land, Carter/Selig Enterprises, North American Properties, Seven Oaks Co./Orkin & Associates and a team that includes John Wieland Homes.
“We don’t have all the information available at this time for the proposers to provide… complete and final proposals,” Sandy Springs City Manager John McDonough said. “The intent of the RFP is to acquire sufficient information regarding the proposers’ approach, concept… and financial condition.”
The area being redeveloped is a 14-acre block bounded by Johnson Ferry Road, Roswell Road, Mount Vernon Highway and Sandy Springs Circle. It will include a civic/cultural center, mixed-used development, parking and green space.
Proposals are due to the city on March 28. The city expects to have a master agreement in place by July.
