Here’s how the Dunwoody Convention and Visitors Bureau can help YOU!

CVBDunwoodyLogo no taglineI recently had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Kim Trawick from the Duwnoody Convention and Visitors Bureau.   We had a very nice lunch at  da Via  (you should try it!)   I mentioned to her that I thought it would be helpful if she could let me know how the Dunwoody CVB could help the average Dunwoody citizen.  Until meeting with Kim, I thought their sole purpose was to get people to VISIT Dunwoody.   While that is certainly a component of their responsibilities, they are also here to serve me and you….the people who are already IN Dunwoody!   Following is some great information about how the CVB can help you!  They even have an app for that!

As a proud resident of Dunwoody, you know better than anyone how great our community is, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Dunwoody (CVBD) wants to invite you to engage with us on promoting the place you call home as a destination. We at the CVBD believe in Dunwoody and are here to serve this community by promoting it as a place to visit, experience, and explore. We hope that you will get involved and connect with us so we can work together to support the restaurants, hotels, retailers, and organizations that make up Dunwoody’s tourism industry.

You may be asking yourself, what is the CVBD? Established in August 2009, the CVBD is the official destination marketing organization for the City of Dunwoody.  A non-profit 501(c) 6 organization, the mission of the CVBD is to generate economic development for Dunwoody by effectively marketing the facilities of the community and the surrounding areas as a preferred business, convention and tourism destination. The sole source of funding for the CVBD is provided by the dedication portion of the hotel/motel tax, as required by Georgia law.

While most of the CVBD’s efforts are directed outside of Dunwoody to attract visitors, meetings, and groups, it offers resources that Dunwoody residents can enjoy and use. All are free and easily accessible. We invite you to take advantage of our services and resources, partnering with us to promote Dunwoody as a destination to help our businesses, hotels, and City thrive. Below are some easy ways to connect with and utilize the CVBD:

Meeting Services

Planning a wedding, family reunion, or Mitzvah? The CVBD is here to help with hotel room blocks and facilitation of event space, and provides complimentary welcome bags for your friends and families filled with brochures and Dunwoody trinkets. We want you to think Dunwoody when planning these once-in-a-lifetime events, because when you and your guests use Dunwoody hotels, it’s a win-win for everyone in our community.

Events Calendar

Another tool offered by the CVBD benefits both the residents and the local businesses and organizations.  The Dunwoody Events Calendar on CVBDunwoody.com is the most comprehensive list of community events, featuring a full collection of festivals, fundraisers, and other fun things to do around town. Businesses and organizations can submit events to be listed on the calendar as long as they are occurring in Dunwoody and open to the public to attend.

Mobile App

With everyone tied to a smart phone these days, we’ve made it easy for you to share and discover Dunwoody happenings right from the palm of your hand. The Discover Dunwoody mobile app is free to download, and can be found in app stores for both iPhone and Android.  Featuring listings and locations of restaurants, events, and things to do, it’s a must-have app that you’ll find yourself using year-round.

Social Media

In this world of social media, the CVBD encourages residents to connect with us on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. We invite you to serve as social ambassadors by sharing your Dunwoody experiences and by using the hashtag #VisitDunwooody with your posts and pictures, you’ll connect directly to the CVBD social media accounts and allow us to engage with yours.
