My boys and I saw Catching Fire on Monday! Of course I’ve read all the books and loved them. I am always worried that the movie won’t do the book justice. I should NOT have been worried. This movie was a BLAST and just made me want to read Catching Fire all over again! I asked the boys (ages 15 and 12) to rate the movie and they both gave it a resounding A! (They actually agreed on something!)
The costumes are extraordinary! It helps that I’m a life-long Lenny Kravitz fan and he happens to play the role of Cinna (Katniss’ Stylist). The “wedding” dress scene is just so fun!
I also love that much of the movie was filmed here in Atlanta. The Swan House and the Georgia World Congress Center were filming sites. The Swan House has a gorgeous party scene in the movie. I’ve heard rumors that the cast has been in town lately filming Mocking Jay! Be on the lookout for stars!
For those of you who are avid Hunger Games fans you’ll already know that Catching Fire is the pivotal book where Katniss’ heart starts ripping in two. Will she choose Peeta or Gale? It’s exciting to watch Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth bring the love triangle to the big screen but alas…we won’t know the answer until the end of Mocking Jay! I know who I would choose! Does anyone remember when I brought Josh Hutcherson to Vanderlyn for The Bridge to Terabithia tour? He was 15 then and such a sweetie! He sure has come a long way since then!
I hope you enjoy the movie as much as me and my boys did! I was also with several girlfriends and their teenagers and everyone loved it. The most common immediate response when it ended was…”What….it’s already over? Wow – I can’t wait for Mocking Jay!” Good news/Bad News….Mocking Jay will be broken into two movies. Part One is set to release this time next year. Meanwhile…go see Catching Fire!
