Beck (5yrs old) and Boone (3yrs) Heaps of Brookhaven presented a Thank You plaque to two City of Chamblee employees to thank them for rebuilding a train in Huntley Hills Park that had been vandalized and removed from the park a few months back.
Beck and Boone visit their grandparents, Thom and Christy Heaps, who live in Chamblee and their grandparents often take them to Huntley Hills Park to play. They loved the train and missed it while it was gone! So they went to the City of Chamblee Town Hall with their grandfather to find out when the train would be coming back.
Marci Hooper-Smith, the administrative assistant at City of Chamblee, contacted the Public Works Department and spoke with Tillman Hannon asking where they were on the project. Over the next several weeks, Marci continued to keep the boys and their grandfather updated on the progress of the train rebuild until it was back at the park. Tillman Hannon works at the Public Works Dept for City of Chamblee, and was the one who designed and had his team build the new train at the park.
Both Marci and Tillman received their own plaque from the boys as a thank you for bringing the train back to the park. Many other families (and their children and grandchildren) are also thrilled to have the train back at Huntley Hills park too!
