  1. FYI…
that attempted robbery yesterday was my next door neighbor ..
her 12 year old son was home alone when the door bell rang and he didn’t answer it. they came around and kicked open the back door and he was upstairs calling the mom and 911. he heard them coming up the stairs and he was in the bedroom. he screamed several times for them to “go away” and they did. he was very shaken and it was all quite scary. we live in a cul de sac!!! their escape was to jump her fence in the back and they had a car waiting for them on the road. We don’t know if this had anything to do with it, but they did have an empty electronics box on the curb for the trash pick up.

  2. The box most likely did in fact make them a target. If you buy a new flat screen, take the long way home from Costco/Best Buy, take it in the back door, and cut the box up into little pieces so you stuff it in the trash.
They also came in because they thought nobody was, but telling a kid or an elderly person to answer the door when they’re home alone is a tough call.

  3. Thanks for the additional info. Glad no one was hurt and Robbery Attempt a failed mission. I too have teens at home..secured with a German Shepherd…but will certainly be on the lookout and report any suspicious activities.
