Dunwoody Performing Arts Foundation Awards Scholarships

2013-DSA-Rachelle-Clark-Alex-Hassell-Anna-Hughes-Sherriill-Redovian-300Dunwoody’s Tim Redovian Memorial Fund has awarded its 2013 scholarships. Following auditions in May, 10 metro Atlanta area winners, including two from Dunwoody, were named. Each will receive funding to attend summer training in their chosen area of the performing arts.
The Tim Redovian Memorial Fund was established in memory of Tim Redovian, a gifted young performer from Dunwoody who lost his life in 1996 to a rare respiratory illness. The foundation provides funding and scholarship awards to talented high school performing arts students, individually or through organizations, who want to develop to their full potential through continued studies. To date, more than $265,000 has been awarded to deserving young performers.
The 2013 winners include three DeKalb School of the Arts (DSA) students: Anna Hughes, 17, Dunwoody, GA, rising senior DSA, Joffrey Summer Intensive at Joffrey School of Ballet, NY, NY; Rachelle Clark, 16, Decatur, GA, rising junior DSA, American Dance Festival Six Week School at Duke University, NC; and Alex Hassell, 17, Decatur, GA, rising senior DSA, Berklee Guitar Sessions at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. Other winners are: Bronte Upshaw, Dunwoody, GA, 17, North Springs HS, rising 12th grader, CAP21 Pre-College Summer Intensive, NY, NY; Alexis Adams, Acworth, GA, 17, rising senior Pebblebrook HS, Rutgers Summer Acting Conservatory, New Brunswick, NJ; T. Michael Boddie, 16, Tyrone, GA, rising junior Sandy Creek HS, Furman Band & Orchestra Camp, Greenville, SC; Briana Bunkley, 17, Union City, GA, rising senior Tri-Cities HS, Metropolitan Ballet Theatre, Atlanta, GA; Donevon Howard, 16, Mableton, GA, Home Schooled, Interlochen Arts Camp, Interlochen, MI; Commodore Primous III, 15, Marietta, GA, rising 10th grader Pebblebrook HS, DC Next Summer Production Intensive, Atlanta, GA; and Marco Sanchez, Norcross, GA, 18, Norcross HS, acting and voice classes, Atlanta, GA.
On Saturday, August 17, winners of the TRMF scholarship will showcase their talents at the annual TRMF benefit concert at Dunwoody Baptist Church.
