Sandy Springs, Ga, Apr. 24, 2013 – The 3rd annual Heritage Sandy Springs Beer Fest will be held this Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. The beer festival will feature domestic, import, microbrew, and nanobrew beers to sample, as well as great food and a variety of live music. The Beer Fest will be held at Heritage Green, 6110 Bluestone Road, Sandy Springs, GA. All proceeds benefit Heritage Sandy Springs, a community nonprofit that builds community through preserving and promoting the historic and cultural identity of Sandy Springs.
The 2013 festival will bring two new benefits to the three-year old event: increased presence of regional craft breweries and the inaugural HomeBrew Competition sponsored by Moondog Growlers. Featured area breweries include BlueTarp Brewing Co. (Decatur), O’Dempey’s (Sandy Springs), Sweetwater (Atlanta), Wild Heaven Craft Beer (Decatur), and many others.
“As Sandy Springs’ only beer festival, Heritage Sandy Springs is excited to present this very popular event again this year,” says Rebekah Henry Murphy, Special Events Director at Heritage Sandy Springs. Murphy continued, “The 2013 event is set to be our best yet with an increase in the number of breweries represented, including more regional craft brewers.”
“We are especially eager to present the inaugural HomeBrew Competition in partnership with Moondog Growlers. As the hobby grows in popularity, this event offers a wonderful opportunity for the home brewer to submit their recipes to be judged by some of the region’s most noted beer experts. The grand prize offers the opportunity for the best of show to brew their winning recipe with Red Brick Brewing and provide tastings of their award-winning brew during a special event at the brewery,” said Murphy.
The event has become known among audience members and vendors for its intimacy with short lines and great opportunity to interact with brewers. The prior events have drawn diverse crowds of beer lovers, aficionados, and novices from the Sandy Springs/ North Fulton communities and surrounding areas.
