Perimeter paving work resumes this weekend

The break is over. Out-of-town basketball fans are gone. So this weekend, you can start avoiding I-285 again.

State highway department officials say contractors will close up to three lanes in each direction of I-285 between Ashford Dunwoody and Paces Ferry roads.

“I-285 across the top end is the place to avoid this weekend,” GDOT District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle said in a press release. “Long delays are expected all weekend.”

Contractors had taken a couple of weekends off to accommodate spring break drivers or folks visiting metro Atlanta for the Final Four basketball championships. Now that those are past, work will continue on I-285 and the bridges at the I-85/Ga. 400 interchange, state DOT officials said in the release.

The DOT said paving work on the Perimeter eastbound will stretch from Northside Drive to Ashford Dunwoody. Westbound, paving work will extend from Chamblee Dunwoody Road to Riverside Drive, the agency press release said.
