Monarchs & Margaritas – April 27th

MM New LogoLive butterflies will greet guests at Dunwoody Nature Center’s highly anticipated annual fund-raiser, Monarchs and Margaritas, at the South Terraces Atrium in Perimeter Center on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Situated on a lush, wooded 25-acre site complete with a peaceful lake and green surroundings, this new venue for Monarchs & Margaritas offers a soaring sunlit atrium with a reflecting pool and fountains. Once inside guests will be amazed by the striking architecture with white, geometric forms. Entertaining music, food and drinks (including margaritas, of course) and a special Birds of Prey show will delight all attendees.
Event Coordinator Sandra Salem and her committee have been collecting donations for several months. “With our live and silent auctions,” she explains, “there will be a wide variety of unique items and fun experiences available at every price point. This event will be a shopper’s paradise.”
For those on a budget (and who isn’t?), there will be many opportunities to score great deals on dinners at local restaurants and outings to a variety of venues, as well as accommodations to sought after vacation destinations such as Amelia Island, Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head, Lake Wedowee, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Earn some major brownie points with your sweetheart by winning the bid for an all inclusive stay at “Dreams” Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa. Feel like dining in and always wanted a Big Green Egg? Guests can find it in the array of auction items!
For those with a discerning eye, several handcrafted treasures will be up for bid, including a hand-painted server for your outside entertaining, a giclee print by Joe Wolff entitled The Bee, a bronzed Eagle sculpture by artist Gregory Johnson, portrait sessions with area artists and several other special one-of-a-kind items. In addition, The Nature Center’s own David Dalrymple will once again be on hand to auction off one of his hand-crafted artistic wooden bowls. Become the envy of friends by winning a farm-to-table catered dinner for 12 as the Nature Center converts a secluded pocket of Dunwoody Park to an outdoor fine dining experience.
Located on a 22 acre parcel of Dunwoody Park, the Nature Center offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and wonderful Wildcat Creek. Last year at the Nature Center, over 10,000 visitors participated in classes, camps, and other family events. Incorporated in 1992 by community volunteers as a 501(c)(3), the Dunwoody Nature Center is currently the only organized service arm that provides environmental education throughout the city of Dunwoody and our surrounding communities. Last year’s Monarchs & Margaritas event helped to raise over $30,000 for the Nature Center – money which was reinvested back into the community through free and discounted events such as the summer concert series, Friday Night Hikes, speaker series; and in making much needed improvements to the park grounds and facilities.
Whether guests want to take part in the excitement of the auctions or just enjoy the delicious food, beautiful surroundings, and “See and be seen” crowd, there is something for everyone at this year’s event to support the Nature Center.
