Heritage Sandy Springs Announces 2013 Concerts by the Springs Series

SANDY SPRINGS, GA, Apr. 1, 2013 – Heritage Sandy Springs announced the 2013 Concerts by the Springs season today. Held one Sunday evening each month, May through September, the outdoor summer concert series is free and open to the public. Concerts are held from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and are located at Heritage Green on The Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn, 6110 Bluestone Road, Sandy Springs, Georgia. Celebrating its seventeenth year, the 2013 Concerts by the Springs season features five unforgettable performances, offering something for all ages and audiences.

“Annually, Heritage Sandy Springs welcomes approximately 7,000 Sandy Springs residents and visitors to our very popular Concerts by the Springs series”, said Rebekah Henry Murphy, Special Events Director at Heritage Sandy Springs. “We are excited to present this diverse line-up and look forward to welcoming the entire community to these highly-anticipated free summer concerts”, Murphy continued.
Beach music legends, The Tams, will open the 2013 season on Mother’s Day. The Tams have been entertaining and thrilling audiences for over 40 years. Known for such hits as “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy”, “What Kind of Fool”, and “I’ve Been Hurt”, The Tams have had 2 Gold Records, and 1 Platinum Single.
June will welcome swing jazz band The Retro Jazz Kats led by front woman and Sandy Springs resident, Gwen Hughes. Gwen Hughes & The Retro Jazz Kats will perform a set of big band swing music and American standards such as Sinatra and Gershwin, supported by the sounds of a six-piece horn band.
In July, the summer heat welcomes the hot pop music band, The A-Town A-List™. Performing pop hits from the last 50 years with a current, modern edge, the band is a collection of incredible young performers who have toured globally, sharing the stage with Bruce Springsteen, The Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Wonder, The Black Eyed Peas, The Killers and Jennifer Lopez.
August will bring variety band The Mustangs to Heritage Green for the first time. Known for their musicianship and harmonies, this lively 6-piece group covers classic hits from the last 40 years, bringing together the best of yesterday and today in a way that is sure to please even the most diverse audiences. Their pop classics range from The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Aretha Franklin to No Doubt, Fastball and Keith Urban.
The 2013 Concerts by the Springs series will close out on September 8 with The Kinchafoonee Cowboys, a Georgia-born and bred country music band that first began in a peach orchard in Terrell County, GA. The band’s popularity soon spread to Athens, Georgia – the “Liverpool of the South”, where they recorded their first studio album, Sowega, in 1991 at Saturn Recording Studio. They went on to record three additional albums: Deep Dark Water, recorded at the Home Place Studio in Nashville, TN, Kinchafoonee, recorded at Maxwell Sound in Athens, GA, and Cowboy Ways: Live at the Georgia Theatre. The Cowboys continue to tour throughout the state of Georgia. Over the years the group has shared billing with entertainers such as Alabama, John Anderson, Trisha Yearwood, Diamond Rio, Tracy Lawrence, Martina McBride, Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, and many others.
