HAIRSPRAY! The Broadway comedy is coming to North Springs HS March 17-27! NSprings was one of only 3 high schools, and the ONLY public full-curriculum high school in the U.S to get early rights to Jack Waters’ 1988 big, fat, Broadway musical! As a performing arts magnet high school, N Springs Charter draws students in from all over the Atlanta area to be part of the nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts program. Over 200 kids auditioned for only 48 spots in ‘Hairspray’ and the selection process was intense. Dunwoody and Sandy Springs area students — Brian Brandt, Lindsey Marcus, Kaitlin Reynell, Emma Clinch, Cameron Frostbaum, Bronte Upshaw, and Eric Rich –all have lead and understudy lead roles in the upcoming production at North Springs.
Come and see all the local student talent in one big hit show, right in the neighborhood! It’s great to go to the FOX every now and then, BUT it’s a FAR better deal to go to NSCHS and see a performance of a popular musical, than to go to the theaters downtown, pay a fortune, pay to park, dress up, and hope to squeeze in dinner. The production quality is the same, the experience, unbeatable!
We are making an active drive to build an audience, outside of our own parents and families, as we all know the cuts the ARTS are taking everywhere. The 8 ‘Hairspray’ shows are all performed, both musically and theatrically, as well as teched, by NSprings’ students. Marty Aikens and Steve Young, the two high school directors, head the theatre program and the drama teaching at NS and they are just top notch, and it shows in the shows!
‘Hairspray’ at NSprings is a must see — we’ll have the fat suits and all the music you loved, both in the movie and in the Broadway play. Make it a good hair day – come see ‘Hairspray’!!
