I love this show! My mom told me about it last year and I used up an entire rainy weekend watching the first two seasons one episode right after the other! My personal Facebook was lighting up last night as soon as the show was over! Fans are SHOCKED and most are saying that Lord Grantham is an IDIOT! I’m feeling thankful for magnesium sulphate as it saved my life in 1998 and saved my husband from raising Troy all by himself! Oh, Lady Sybil sure could have used some Mg2+ last night!?

Lord G. lost his allure for me after he had affair with the maid. Then he foolishly mismanaged the family money and had to be bailed out by new son-in-law. Now he has let his ego get in the way of his darling youngest daughter’s very life. Just what good qualities does this man have? I think he needs to keep sleeping in his dressing room.

I was heart broken! Lady Sybil is one of my favorites. My daughter has read the back-story on all the actors, and the actress that played her was a balerina who had a career ending injury causing her to turn to acting. I do hope we will see her in other things soon. Still, we have to consider that women died as a result of complications from childbirth a lot in those days and the Granthams had better access to healthcare than most.
I was shocked that they didn’t take her to hospital. I thought they were going to and then they were all back in a room, just waiting for the birth. Awful. I am fairly new to this show, catching the final 4 of year 2, but consider myself a fast learner and piecing together the prior years.
People didn’t know what we now know as general knowledge. Robert seemed really torn between what his wife and the local doctor wanted to do versus what his specialist was saying. He thought he had brought the best person in to care for his daughter and while I wanted them to take her to the hospital, I can also understand why Robert was reluctant. I also think the story wouldn’t be able to go on if they didn’t create a lot of drama and problems. I really liked Sybil and don’t like that she’s not part of the show now,but I’m sure they’ll come up with some juicy storyline about Tom and the baby!
