The Dunwoody Preservation Trust announces recipients of the first Lemonade Days Festival Unsung Hero Award at city council meeting.
Lieutenant Jason Dove and Sergeant Anwar Sillah were presented with the first Dunwoody Preservation Trust Lemonade Days Festival Unsung Hero Award at the Tuesday August 12th city council meeting. The officers were honored for their outstanding leadership at the April 17-21, 2024 festival to safeguard and to serve the festival community, the staff and partnering organizations throughout the five day Dunwoody Signature Event.
Begun in 1999, the first Lemonade Days was a one day event held as a relief effort for those families affected by the 1998 tornado that tragically destroyed entire Dunwoody neighborhoods. With something for everyone, it has since grown to attract an estimated 60,000 attendees and offers five days of family fun with carnival rides, food-and-beverage vendors; pony rides; a petting zoo; a Dunwoody Authors & Friends Booth and an Honorary Ms Lemonade Days Queen.
The Lemonade Days Festival is the only fundraiser of the Dunwoody Preservation Trust (DPT), with the profits going to the continued rehabilitation and maintenance of the historic 1870 Donaldson-Bannister Farm (a partnership of the DPT and the City of Dunwoody, voted as a “Best of Georgia” 2023 award winner for the Best Meeting & Event Facilities by the Georgia Business Journal, as well as numerous community events, educational programs for children and adults and Dunwoody’s only history camp for kids.
