Sandy Springs Society Awards $370,000 in Grants to 42 Local Nonprofits

The Sandy Springs Society, a women’s volunteer organization, recently announced its 2024 grant recipients. 42 local nonprofits are receiving a record breaking $370,000 in grants. Since its founding in 1988, the organization has given away more than $5 million in grants. These funds are raised through donations, cookbook sales, sponsors and major events including the Elegant Elf, a holiday marketplace, and Tossed Out Treasures, an ‘upscale resell’ event that also broke records of raising more than $139,000 this past March through the sale of donated items from Society members and the community.

Winning the Spirit of Sandy Springs Award was Collin Maher, a junior at The Mount Vernon School, for his founding the Hot Cocoa 5K which raises funds to purchase sneakers for economically disadvantaged students at Ison and Lake Forest Elementary Schools, which are both Title One schools in Sandy Springs.
