The Academic Connection

Welcome to the first edition of the Academic Connection, a special feature of the Aha! Connection that will be published monthly going forward.
The Academic Connection is being co-written by two local education entrepreneurs, Maggie Wray and Brian Eufinger. Maggie is a Dunwoody resident and the founder of Creating Positive Futures, an academic coaching company that helps middle, high school, and college students earn better grades with less stress by developing the organization, time management, mindset, study strategies, and executive functioning skills they need to reach their goals. Brian is the co-founder of Edison Prep, a Sandy Springs-based college prep company that works with students who are preparing for the SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests such as AP History, and who are navigating the process of both applying to and affording college.
Maggie and Brian have been avid Aha! Connection readers for many years and are looking forward to giving back and sharing insights with Aha! families.
The goal of this monthly column is to address questions of interest for parents of students in middle school through college, and will range from purely academic topics to very practical ones that impact families’ daily lives and pocketbooks. Some potential topics we’re hoping to touch on in future editions include how to help reduce school-related stress and anxiety, how parents can support students with ADHD, how the college application timeline works, changes to the brand-new “Better” FAFSA that debuted this year, how SAT/ACT scores can earn merit aid and cut the cost of college, non-academic ways for savvy families to both save and/or cut the cost of college, how to prepare students for the college transition, and what to do if your your student is struggling in their college classes.
As we plan our content for the coming year, we would love to infuse it with reader input and sometimes even do a “mailbag” of sorts.
