Dunwoody’s new Green Light Art project features the works of Dunwoody High School students on five traffic signal boxes across the city.

Today, members of the Dunwoody City Council, Dunwoody Art Commission and Dunwoody Economic Development Department gathered for the unveiling of the new Green Light Art project. The new public art exhibit features pieces created by Dunwoody High School students on traffic signal boxes across the city.

“The Green Light Art project provides an impactful way to add vibrant and original public art throughout the city,” said Dunwoody Business and Cultural Affairs Manager Rosemary Watts. “We love the way they look and can’t wait for residents and visitors alike to enjoy them.”

Phase 1 of the project includes art created on canvas for Dunwoody’s Storefront Art Exhibit, which paired students with Dunwoody Village business owners to showcase their art. Five of the ten original canvases were chosen to be digitized, printed, and wrapped onto the traffic signal boxes. The featured artists are Stephanie Orr, Shrividya Guru, Anabelen Reyes, Rocio Arvizu and Ana Blas-Manuel.

The cost of phase 1 is being covered by A-R-T & Associates President and Owner, Christopher Drew. Considering the impact of weather on the art, the wraps are expected to last three to five years. The City of Dunwoody plans additional wraps in the future.

“This is another important step in the partnership between the City and our schools as it relates to public art,” said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “We were so impressed with the pieces for Storefront Art that I’m happy we have another opportunity to enjoy and learn from them.”
