Tyree Thorne and Kirk Malcolm were recognized for their roles in pulling residents to safety after an apartment explosion last month.
Dunwoody, GA – October 27, 2021 – Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan presented Citizen Commendations to Tyree Thorne and Kirk Malcolm during Monday night’s Dunwoody City Council meeting. They were recognized as heroes for helping residents after an explosion at the Arrive Perimeter apartments.
The commendations include the following narrative: “On September 12, 2021, following a catastrophic apartment building explosion, you placed your own life in harm’s way by assisting multiple residents out of the building and directing incoming first responders toward the affected units. It is abundantly fitting and proper that gratitude is expressed for your heroic actions on this day. You are an inspiring example of true selflessness and compassion for others.”
