Venture down I-75 from Atlanta and you’ll likely see a series of billboards showing a friendly little creature saying, “Ain’t no potty like a Buc-ee’s potty” or “Smiles for all your miles.”
This is Buc-ee’s, a relative newcomer to Georgia, having opened an iteration of the “world’s largest convenience store” in Warner Robins in November 2020, and adding 200 jobs to the area in the process.
But Buc-ee’s, headquartered in Lake Jackson, Texas, is so much more than a typical convenience store. Their stores/gas stations feature 80-120 fueling spots. At the Georgia location, I stopped counting after 40 but there were many more to see. Semi trucks are not allowed, leaving space for plenty of RVs and cars.
Inside, there are almost as many restrooms as gas pumps and they are cleaned round-the-clock. Touchless faucets, soap dispensers and paper towels add that Covid-friendly perk.
The store itself seems to go on for miles, with multiple rows of snacks, refrigerated cases lining half the perimeter of the store, a wall of jerky, and shelf after shelf of home décor, clothing, gifts, grilling supplies and so much more. Halloween shirts and décor are already on display.
If you’re looking for more than a snack, grab-n-go meals include chicken salad sandwiches, brisket sandwiches, deli sandwiches, bakery items and cut fruit. Orders for hot items such as tacos, hot dogs, chicken fingers and other food can be placed at a kiosk and then picked up at a counter after a very short wait. Friendly employees are available throughout the store.
Buc-ee’s is located off Exit 144 and is definitely worth a stop on your next road trip to Florida. The company is scheduled to open another location in Calhoun and continue expanding into other southern states. Find them throughout Texas and in Alabama and Florida. Buc-ee’s is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
