North Point Community Church Becomes #1 Blood Drive Location in the State

Being named the number one blood drive location in the state was not part of the plan when Alpharetta-based North Point Community Church (NPCC) first opened its doors to the American Red Cross last March. However, 32 drives later, NPCC has done just that thanks to hundreds of church attendees and other generous donors in the North Fulton and South Forsyth areas. According to the American Red Cross, NPCC blood drives have far outpaced averages across the state. They began less than a year ago in response to the United States facing a critical blood shortage as an unprecedented number of blood drive locations closed related to COVID-19 shutdowns.

Reflecting on this success, Emily Clay, a spokesperson with the American Red Cross said, “I’ve never seen anything like this since my time at the Red Cross. Our average donation rate per blood dive in Georgia is about 19 pints donated and about four first-time donors. At North Point we average 70 to 80 pints donated per drive and have had a total of 775 first-time donors.”
