In a season drastically shortened, the Dunwoody Cross Country Wildcats had one regular season meet before racing into Championship Season. The Wildcats came out of hibernation from their cat dens well rested and brought the intensity into the Dekalb County Championships held at Arabia Mountain. The Lady Wildcats won 1st place led by freshman Claire Shelton who won the girls’ individual title followed by junior Kate Bacon who finished second in the race. Seniors Emma Tessler and Cici Rudder finished in the top ten claiming 6th and 8th place followed by sophomore Emma Parker (13th), senior Ahna Lorden (15th), and junior Lucy Neumann (17th). In true team fashion, the girls finished with a total score of 30 points to narrowly edge out the competition by a mere 2 points to take the Championship. The boys team finished 4th overall with junior Ethan Archibald and sophomore Michael Mendonca earning medals placing 7th and 8th overall. They were followed by sophomore Mark Westrick, junior Wade Parkes, junior Jack Wichman, junior Ryan Altera and sophomore Cameron Tutt. The boys team finished with a very low score of 99 points. Almost every runner had a personal record on the course and made some strong gains since the previous meet. Way to go Wildcats!
