Dunwoody High and Dunwoody Elem. School relocated today

Both schools closed today because of a DeKalb County water main break on Vermack Road.   I was told that this is NOT related to DHS construction and is a county issue to correct…not the City of Dunwoody.

The messages below are the official notices to parents at DHS and DES.


Important Information from Dunwoody High School

Water Line Break

This morning a waterline break occurred on Vermack Rd., there is no water at the high school.  All students are being transported by bus to Peachtree Middle School.  Buses will pick up the students there at the regular time, or you may check out your student at Peachtree Middle School before school is out.

Important Information from Dunwoody Elementary School
  • Today, there was a water main break in the Dunwoody neighborhood. We were required to evacuate Dunwoody Elementary School and relocate our instructional program to Chamblee Middle School. We will continue the remainder of our day at Chamblee Middle School and dismiss today from that location. The homeroom teachers have all of the needed information to provide instruction, food and care for the safety and well-being of your children.

    While we will provide for the remainder of the instructional day at Chamblee Middle School,
    parents may pick up their children if they desire to do so. Please allow us time to set up our
    mobile attendance office.

Afternoon Dismissal/Transportation Update!!!


Greetings again to our Tiger families,
We have just been informed that we will be able to dismiss today from Dunwoody Elementary School.  We will dismiss at our regular time of 2:15 and in our regular manner.  DCSS Transportation department has been able to work that out for our families.

HOWEVER, due to the water main break in the community that is affecting our school, ALL AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS at Dunwoody Elementary School have been CANCELLED.


Parents whose children are in the afterschool program are being contacted at this time.
