Census takers will begin knocking on doors THIS week to help complete the count and will continue through September. They will only visit households that have not responded to the Census online, by phone or by mail. So if you don’t want them knocking on your door….be sure you’ve filled out the Census for your household ASAP.
The overall response rate for Dunwoody right now is 65 percent, so we still have a long way to go.
Why does it matter? Over the next decade, lawmakers, business owners, and many others will use 2020 Census data to make critical decisions about new schools, clinics, roads, and services for families, older adults, and children. The results will also determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated to more than 100 programs, including Medicaid, Head Start, block grants for community mental health services, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
