I recently tried a burger from “Rheas take out foods” in Roswell. Attached to a corner store off Canton St, visiting this hole in the wall was quite the experience to say the least. After reading just a few reviews, I was very intrigued, but not exactly because of the burgers. Although not told to me, the owner apparently is known for telling customers “my way or the highway”, only accepting cash and not being too fond of people adding and taking away ingredients from their orders. Seemed to be very Soup Nazi-ish if you ask me (if you do not know who the Soup Nazi is then I’m so sorry for you). Most everything I read came to fruition when I went there, except he was very friendly and chatty at the same time, I guess all the busybody folks on Yelp like to dwell on the bad. Before even looking at the menu when I got there (they do not have a website), he was already asking me questions about where I was from and what was I doing there. Obviously there to try his burgers, he immediately suggested I try the “Rheas Special”. Of course, I ordered the special and it was very solid. After watching him cook my food at the diner-style counter, and listening to him ramble on something about being related to Obama (he spoke with a heavy middle Eastern accent but I swear he claimed they were cousins), he insisted that I try a bite of the burger before I leave. It was very good, but not as good as he hyped it up to be. It was a double burger with I believe to be American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, on Texas toast. Pretty simple ingredients but done well and for a good price. It is hard to mess up a burger on buttery Texas toast.
Go see for yourself.
